You Can Set Every Day Up For Success, Here’s How…

Use this lesson to guarantee that every day is successful.

Once upon a time… I was an overworked property manager in Honolulu.

I dreamed of working my way up the corporate ladder to a C-level position; my dream was to lead the office.

The hard part about my job was that I managed hundreds of homes around Hawaii, and homeowners had 24/7 access to me through phone and email.

It meant that I gave more time to my phone screen than my wife; emails were the last thing I saw before bed, and the first thing I saw waking up.

It made me feel stressed because I would wake up in the middle of the night to check my emails. It also made me feel disconnected from my wife because we were miles apart, even though she was sleeping next to me.

Then I started waking up three times a night to do work. I was exhausted every day, out of balance, and lost a big promotion. I felt like giving up because It felt like they didn’t recognize my work.

But, as it turned out, it was a blessing in disguise, and here’s why…

I took all of my paid time off and maxed a credit card to go to a Miami, Florida business growth conference. Surrounded by entrepreneurs, investors, and people outside my “usual” environment, everything changed!

I saw that I was hustling in the wrong direction. It’s not normal to wake up multiple times in the middle of the night or give my phone more attention than my family.

So I got back to Honolulu and decided to quit my job to have more time with my family. I also decided to put my phone in another room every night before bed to focus on time with my wife.

But I still had a pressing issue…

I still had to retrain my body to sleep through the night; instead of waking up and looking for “fires” to put out.

I committed to focusing on meaningful time with my wife before bed, and as soon as I woke up.

Focusing on relationships with my family allowed me to get my priorities straight and align myself with what’s essential in life.

Which meant I became a better entrepreneur, better husband, and better person because I began valuing my relationships more than my work.

I was able to sleep through the night, get more done at work in less time, and significantly improve my family relationships.

When it comes down to it, putting my phone in the other room showed me that there are rarely problems in our businesses that can’t wait until the next day, we sleep better the further we are from a screen, and our family needs us to be a present leader who gives them time and attention.

Before bed every night, my wife and I have meaningful conversations, we say how much we love and appreciate each other, and when we wake up in the morning, we tell each other “Great Morning” instead of “Good Morning.” Practices like these will make a HUGE difference in your life and business!

I never get up before my wife anymore, and my wife never wakes up to see me working; she wakes up to a present husband who appreciates her and is grateful for another great day together.

Ultimately, I’ve become a happier person who is balanced, centered, and energized. I’ve become a better businessman by focusing less on business.

Your takeaways from this story are to put distance between you and technology before bed & when you wake up. Replace that time with your devices by focusing on the people you love. Your life and your business will massively improve!
